Every once in a while, I like to feature a guest post. It is good to look at joy from a different view than just mine.
This week Undaunted Joy features Chris Carstens. Chris and I just missed each other at last autumn’s Catholic Imagination Conference. I could kick myself for that. His wisdom and thoughtfulness has been a guide for me on Twitter. I hope you will enjoy his poem which speaks so clearly the vocation which I too, cling to.
Vocation
People sometimes ask why I’m so happy.
I wake up knowing
God will hide a blessing
in this day,
some treasure, small or large, that maybe only I can find.
It will be my present, like a birthday gift,
but better,
a token of Eternity that He has placed in time,
right there where I can see it -- if I look.
I’m hunting for it now.
That’s what I do -- It’s my vocation,
seeking out the markers God has set upon my way.
